2009/10 Shoalhaven Oyster Season Kicks Off

Traditionally in Australia more oysters are eaten in Spring & Summer than at any other time. This is quite handy when demand rises when the oysters are at their best.

A frequently asked question is;
What exactly is the Shoalhaven River oyster season?
It can vary depending on mother nature.

Sydney Rock Oysters tend to spawn when the river temperature drops significantly during Autumn or Winter and it can take some time for them to recover. The oysters are still edible but are not as creamy and look less appealling.

As oysters in Australia are often eaten when entertaining it is common to eat them along with a cold beveage on a warm day which is in line with our peak in the Shoalhaven oyster season and our warmer months of the year.

Once recovered somewhat Shoalhaven Sydney Rock Oysters just get better and better until ready to spawn again in Autumn or Winter and the cycle goes on.
